Let me tell you about Bharat, let me tell you about my motherland,

Where the wisdom is immense and celebrations grand.

I come from the land of knowledge, the land of riches where no one needed a loan,

The distance to the sun and secrets of the universe were not unknown.

A golden land of the warrior and the sage,

We had knowledge to share, not wars to wage.

But when it came to protecting our motherland, our swords never lacked,

We have age old architecture, but not one wall cracked.

We have Vedas as old as the stone tools,

We understood way before, knowledge is more valuable than jewels.

We gave this world scholars, we gave this world every hero,

We gave the world mathematics, we gave the world 'zero'.

I ask you to hold your head up high! I ask you to never bow!

Whatever we earned, was through the sweat of our brow.

I come from the land of Maha Rana Pratap, I come from the land of Rani Lakshmi Bai,

I was taught to stand brave, I was taught to never lie.

My soil teaches bravery, my soil teacher honor,

The mountains might be high, but we stood taller.

The country of various cultures, various colors and traditions,

For me, my country is above all nations.

We never attacked, we never invaded

We accepted all, our country diversely shaded.

Festivals of colors, bliss and light,

We had the heart to give, and the strength to fight.

The land of many arts,

The land of welcoming nature and big hearts.

Where the mother of all languages was born,

Where roses are given without a thorn.

The land of "Atithi devo bhava" and "Vasudbhaiva kutumbakam", the land of great hospitality,

We preach kindness, we preach humanity.

The land where all beings are respected,

where all lives are protected.

Where brave sons and daughters gave their lives,

Where the brave soldiers went to war, away from their children and wives.

I grew up hearing tales of bravery and sacrifice,

We fought against thieves, we eradicated the vice.

I ask you to hold your head up high! I ask you to know your motherland,

The river's water, the jungle's leaves and the desert's sand.....

Jai Hind
