In October of 2022, I got to visit a heavenly place named Fiji. It is an island country in Melanesia, part of Oceania in the South pacific ocean. So in simple words, it is far!
The entire travel with connecting flights and halts took over a day but It was worth travelling all that distance for swimming in the clear blue oceans of Fiji and take in the beauty of all its Sealife.

As I sat there in the plane looking down at the clouds below, I wondered "Not having my phone with me is going to be a pain, so far away and cut off from the world, how will I deal with it!"
Little did I know, that was exactly what one needs to find peace and tranquility. Technology and Social media are eating up our time and we must give ourselves a break!
What is this place I have come to! It was called Yasawa Island. We got there from a smaller plane after landing at Nadi. A sea that seemed to be sapphires studded on earth. The people so friendly, always smiling and greeting me every time they see me. With breeze so smooth and cool, the air so pure, like it was god's own home!
Living in style!

The view outside our luxurious room was absolutely breathtaking! Falling asleep to the gentle and soothing sound of waves and waking up to the comfortable, warm sun.
Listening to the sounds of the coconut leaves moving in the breeze as I read my book at peace and listening to the waves of the sea crashing into the beach.
Take a walk at the beach!

Taking walks on the beach in the evening with my mom and dad added life to each grain of sand on the beach and each drop of water in the ocean as we ran, laughed and made so many memories. My mind being the child that it is, found liking in observing the crabs that lived there, how they made their journey to the ocean and then let the waves take them.
It made me think, sometimes we should just let the waves of life decide our destination and trust the process....
There was some magic in the air there, it sparked new thoughts and the sound of waves seemed to be singing a poem which seeped into my heart.
Even though finding the vegetarian food of our preference there was a tough task, the extremely hospitable staff at the Yasawa Island resort did not let us feel the lack of anything, They would prepare food of our liking. I was shocked to find how India and Fiji being so far away, share similar culture! They knew our food and many Fijians even spoke Hindi!
I later found out that in the 1800s, many Indian laborers were brought there to work at the sugarcane plantations. That explains the cultural similarities.
Our trip of relaxation took a thrilling turn when I decided to do scuba diving. Not knowing how to swim, I was a little hesitant, but such an opportunity was too good to let go.
Lose yourself in the depths!

After understanding that knowing how to swim is not important in scuba diving, I mustered up the courage, put the oxygen regulator in my mouth and gave away all my fears to the sea.
After a few minutes, I was at peace, I was alive. It was like meditating with my eyes open as I saw how the world inside the sea is like. I was comfortable as I had taken the basic training the day before. Time seemed to slow down as I found myself to be one with the sea and all its life...
I also tried snorkeling out of the many water sport options they offer at Fiji!
After Yasawa, We went to another resort in Nanuku Island. Once again, I was in awe seeing their hospitality and love for their guests as we received a warm and energizing welcome.

Relaxing and meditating at the beach, enjoying the facilities of the resort and leaning how to swim with my father are experiences I will never forget!
The Yasawa and Nanuku Island resorts are two destinations I would definitely recommend to whoever going to Fiji for their vacation. I could not have found a place more peaceful and beautiful for spending my holidays. A perfect place for a relaxing trip for your family. Not a destination for shopping and enjoying the cuisine but for sure a place for adventure and new experiences!

From a person who writes travelogues herself, this is a gem. I'm so so inspired from the blog :)
